My name is Laura Johannsen and I am pleased to be a part of the CELA community as a 3rd Grade teacher. I come from a background of teaching in great schools around the Lake Country Area. I stayed at home for several years to raise our two girls and two boys.

My husband, Ryan, and I live in Oconomowoc with our kids and black labs, Jetta and Vader. I enjoy kayaking, fishing, playing games, reading, and hopping on a plane to travel to warmer places! I like to watch all kinds of sports, especially our kids’ soccer, hockey and baseball. I also spend quite a few hours at band concerts!

My dream of making a difference in the lives of children AND working with talented colleagues in a Christian school setting has come to fruition. I am thrilled to be teaming with our staff members to accomplish each year’s goals and support the vision of CELA.  Faith and patience are gifts that prompt me to continue responding to my calling as a full-time educator, parent, family member and friend. I am filled with gratitude and joy to help others realize daily victories in their endeavors. I am hopeful to inspire students to seek ways to grow in character, academic excellence and leadership along this journey.

I am eager to get to know our students and families as we seek opportunities to support one another in equipping our youth to develop strong skills and positive values. We are investing in the mission to nurture God’s future leaders (and PRESENT leaders) in this changing world.

As a 3 sport student-athlete who attended Christian schools from 1st through 12th Grade, I have gained hope and wisdom from ideas shared by John Wooden, former Basketball Coach at UCLA and highly-respected speaker about linking faith and lessons in leadership. I have adopted a favorite from one of John’s quotes about the art of success as I encourage our children:

“Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction knowing you made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming.”

Thank you for your partnership and covering us all in prayer every dayy.

Let the fun and learning begin, especially in 3rd Grade!
