It is official – CELA has launched a 3K program! The 2020/2021 school year was the inaugural year for this exciting new program and you can rest assured that the program is robust, fun and effective while adhering to CELA’s 3 pillars which are academic excellence, Christian values and leadership development. CELA’s mission is to develop strong leaders equipped with academic excellence, Christian values, and leadership training and experience, preparing our students to learn, lead and excel in all walks of life. This mission starts with our youngest learners; therefore, these skills will begin to be developed in our 3K students by giving them opportunities to grow academically, learn and participate in on-going Christian values, and presenting them with regular leadership opportunities. We teach our 3K students so much more than ABCs and 123s; we embed in them a foundation that will help to prepare them for full-time school and help them gain a love for learning and an even greater love for school.
CELA’s 3K Program is a 3-day-per-week program which includes Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week. We offer parents a half-day option that runs from 8:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. or a full-day option that follows our regular school hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (Other options may be considered based on demand.)
Offering our 3K Program on these days allows our 3K students to participate in our weekly Wednesday-morning chapel service which is something that all our students look forward to with great anticipation. It also allows 3K students to participate in the Chapel Family aspect of CELA. Chapel Families consist of students from each grade level working together on projects that reinforce the Christian values they are learning. Chapel Families meet each Friday morning during regularly scheduled CVLD time. Both of these activities are invaluable to the Christian values and leadership development aspects of CELA which help to define our school and the success we have.
Our 3K Program helps our young learners build social and listening skills as well as teaches them how to take turns and be respectful of other people and property. They learn to raise their hand in class, take turns and share, take care of school materials, and learn appropriate recess and school behavior. They are exposed to working independently, in small groups and as a class. All of these skills are taught in a manner that is fun and exciting for a 3-year-old. We have found that when learning is fun the children are more engaged in the learning process and therefore learn and retain more.
Children must be 3 years old before the start of the school year for which they are applying to participate in our 3K Program and must also be fully potty trained.
