Annual 8th Grade Washington DC Trip

September 22, 2021
CELA’s 8th graders were in Washington DC from May 12th through May 15th. Prior to the trip, students study our nation’s capital in detail. Each student is assigned an area or point of interest which will be a stopping or talking point during the trip and they are tasked with thoroughly researching it so they can act as a tour guide and share their knowledge on the subject at the appropriate time. This practice immerses the students fully into the history and importance of this vital geographical area, enhancing the trip and giving them yet another opportunity to exhibit their leadership skills. This year while in DC, CELA students had the great honor to take part in a wreath laying ceremony when they visited Arlington National Cemetery. Four students were chosen to participate after writing essays on the significance of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Arlington National Cemetery as a whole to our nation.
