I’m really looking forward to joining the CELA team this fall! Being an art educator is the combination of two of my greatest passions, the visual arts and children.

Art has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I have such fond memories of my elementary art teacher and the projects we worked on. By the time I was a freshman in high school I knew that my career path was heading towards being a creative. I love using common art supplies along with sustainable and organic materials. There is something so beautiful about creating from the earth God designed and connecting our relationship to nature through art.

I have been teaching in some capacity for more than 15 years, from being a bible camp counselor, tutoring English as a second language, working in a childcare facility, being a nanny and now a mother of two.

After graduating from CUW I got a job in marketing for one of the largest landscape design companies in WI and worked my way up to the Art Director position. I designed a biannual magazine, billboards, advertisements, signage, and brochures along with event planning and landscape photography. As much as I enjoyed my responsibilities there, I really missed being around children, which led me back to being a nanny while working on my own freelance design projects.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 7-year wedding anniversary. We have two little girls; our oldest will be joining me this fall at CELA entering 3k! As a family we enjoy spending time camping in our restored 70’s camper, attending neighborhood street festivals and markets, taking day trips to children’s museums and botanical gardens. Volunteering and attending the Milwaukee Film Festival, working on art projects using all sorts of mediums, and attending plays/musicals with my grandpa are activities I can be found doing in my free time.

It is such an honor to have the opportunity to create the same passion for art, creativity, and confidence that my art teacher instilled in me. Keeping children engaged while encouraging and supporting students’ creativity is very important to me. I am enthusiastic about art, and I want others to be too!
