My name is Gina Perone and I am blessed to be a CELA teacher. Born and raised in Wisconsin, I graduated from Homestead High School in Mequon. From the time I first attended a Wisconsin football game in Camp Randall as a child, I knew I wanted to be a Badger. I was honored to graduate from UW-Madison in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and again in 1991 with a Masters of Business Administration. After graduation, I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where I directed marketing, sales and customer care campaigns in the telecom arena. A decade later, I returned to Wisconsin and launched my own consulting firm called Wingspan. While I enjoyed my business career, I had a calling to work with children. So, I returned to college and earned a degree in elementary education. Concurrent with my teacher preparation program, I was a guest teacher at many Lake Country area schools. One highlight was working with a student who attended school via a robot! Besides being a teacher, I love being a mom. My daughter, Arianna, attends Iowa State University and my son, Anakin, is a CELA student. Supporting my children in all their endeavors keeps me busy! I also have a Havanese dog named Presley. During my “down time”, I enjoy reading, scrapbooking and traveling. With an Italian name like Gina Perone, my dream is to visit Rome one day. As both a teacher and parent, I am delighted to be part of CELA’s incredible and inspirational community!
