I feel blessed and humbled that God has led me to join the CELA family as the middle school English/Language Arts teacher. I’m amazed that I get to be in a place where my faith, my love of writing and good literature, and the joy that comes from teaching students all can come together.
I grew up in Michigan (both upper and lower peninsulas!) which is a good place to be when you love the outdoors like I do. As a kid, I was involved in boy scouts, camping with my family, and hunting with my father. In school, I ran track and played tennis and was involved in drama and musical productions. After high school, I attended the University of Michigan, where I was the editor of the university newspaper (remember newspapers?) Once I earned my degree and teaching certification in English and history, my first job offer brought me to Wisconsin. Since then, I’ve taught many different English and history classes, worked as a technology integrator, and served as a school library media specialist. I’ve also coached Forensics and advised the school newspaper.
I am a total tech geek and a professional writer and blogger, as well as a fan of live theater, Star Wars, and a good hockey game. My wife and I have two sons, who are somehow now teenagers in high school and active in theater, choir, and band. We love to travel, play board games, hike, and enjoy a movie and a pizza on a Friday night. We are also very involved in ministry and children’s work in our small Bible church, which we were privileged to help plant.
