Since joining the CELA family in 2016, CELA has become my home away from home. In my early childhood classroom, CELA’s three pillars (academic excellence, Christian values, and leadership development) are woven together to make a unique and incredibly special place for early learning to take place. I think building relationships is key in the overall development and success of a child, and CELA’s mission supports my philosophy as an early childhood teacher.
I graduated from Viterbo University in beautiful La Crosse, Wisconsin in December of 2011. In my time there, I participated in VU Women’s Volleyball, coached volleyball and basketball for various age levels and programs, and assisted with various service projects around the community. I also worked as a special education paraprofessional gaining valuable experiences that would prepare me for my first years of teaching. After graduating, I worked for the School District of Jefferson in their summer school program, "Bridging to Kindergarten". I was also hired to teach kindergarten that fall at Deerfield Elementary School in Deerfield, Wisconsin. I was on the school's Leadership Team and Technology Committee. I taught there for two years. My husband and I then moved to the Pewaukee area, and I accepted a position at Lambs of Christ Learning Center (at Christ Lutheran Church) and helped start the kindergarten program there. While teaching there, I also served as the preschool director for a year. I was happy to serve our church and God’s children, but felt a calling to better serve his little lambs and go back into the classroom, which led me to CELA.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, taking trips up north where we fish, kayak, bike, and simply enjoy God’s creation. I also enjoy reading, shopping, and cheering on the Wisconsin sports teams.
