My name is Susannah Fricker and I am so delighted to join CELA as a new member of it’s teaching staff. I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I completed majors in both art history and art, complemented by a semester abroad in Naples, Italy where my study emphasized the classics and antiquity. For two years following graduation I worked in the realm of luxury designer consignment in Chicago, after which I made the decision to return to academia to pursue a post-baccalaureate degree in Art Education. Art Education for me represents the most pragmatic application of my background as an artist and art historian, my love of learning, my naturally energic disposition, and my affinity for children.
It is my goal as art teacher to instill in students an appreciation and curiosity of art all over the world, from different time periods and movements. In doing so I hope to encourage students to source inspiration from their own unique interests and perspectives, while gaining skill and capability handling a range of artistic mediums with constant consideration for the theories and principals of art and design.
Outside of school I am planning for my upcoming wedding this summer. I enjoy fashion, athletics, film and photography.
