10 Years Experience Teaching Elementary Art and High School Graphic Design
My name is Kristine Bertling and I am blessed and excited to share my passion for art with the students at CELA! I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For many years photography was my focus. My love of working with kids took me back to Alverno College where I earned my K-12 Wisconsin Art Teacher license. For the past ten years, I have been teaching elementary art and have also taught graphic design at the high school level.
I grew up in Hartland and now live in Sussex with my husband, Adam, our two kids, Nola and August, and a crazy fun dog! We are a family of soccer fans, so much our time is spent watching and playing soccer! I also enjoy photography and many types of art. I love to learn and am always exploring new ideas and techniques to share with my students.
I feel that I have been called to CELA to make a difference in the lives of our students and help provide them with a well rounded Christian education. Through the process of making art, students will become designers, inventors and engineers. They will analyze, evaluate and reflect on their work to discover their God given skills and talents. They will learn self direction, collaboration and communication. The students will be problem solvers and decision makers and learn about living a life with Christian values. I hope that all the students enjoy art as much as I enjoy teaching it! It is a blessing to be able to provide them with this experience at CELA.
