“ That my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.” – Psalm 30:12
It is a blessing and an honor to work with God’s children at CELA, teaching our students new ways to praise our Savior through the gift of music in singing, dancing, and playing instruments. I developed a love for music early in life. At the age of three, I would play melodies I heard my parents singing at church. My father was my first piano teacher and musical inspiration. During my high school years at Luther Preparatory School, I participated in many auditioned recitals, accompanied several choirs at concerts, and performed in the Wisconsin School Music Association and the Wisconsin Music Teachers’ Association festivals. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2007.
My teaching career began in 2006 by offering private piano lessons to all ages and levels of study at the Highlander Elite Sports Club. Here, I also gained experience in teaching preschool group music classes. In 2008, I joined the staff at Milwaukee Montessori School as the Music Lesson Coordinator, early childhood music instructor, and piano instructor for students of all ages. I spent the past three summers studying music education techniques of Carl Orff Schulwerk at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and am a proud certified Orff Instructor. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, sewing quilts, composing music, traveling with my husband, Cameron, and caring for our two miniature dachshunds, Helmut and Klaus. I love to learn and continue studying piano performance techniques through weekly lessons and daily practice.
