I am so excited to begin my journey as a kindergarten teacher at CELA this fall. I believe God has led me right where I belong, and I cannot wait to get started working with the the students, families, and staff that are a part of CELA. I think building relationships is key in the overall development and success of a child, and I can already see that CELA's mission supports my philosophy as an early childhood teacher. I think it will be a great match!
After spending 3 1/2 years at Viterbo University in beautiful La Crosse, Wisconsin, I graduated in December of 2011. I participated in VU Women’s Volleyball, coached volleyball and basketball for various age levels and programs, and assisted with various service projects around the community. I also worked as a special education paraprofessional gaining valuable experiences that would prepare me for my first years of teaching. After graduating, I worked for the School District of Jefferson in their summer school program, "Bridging to Kindergarten". I was also hired to teach kindergarten that fall at Deerfield Elementary School in Deerfield, Wisconsin. I was on the school's Leadership Team and Technology Committee. I taught there for two years, and after my husband and I were married and relocated to the Pewaukee area for his job, I decided the commute was too much to continue into the next school year. I accepted a position at Lambs of Christ Learning Center and helped start the kindergarten program there. My previous boss and director of the learning center decided to retire at the beginning of last year, and the preschool's leadership team asked if I was interested in stepping in as the director for the rest of the year. I was happy to serve our church and accepted that role and did both directing and teaching the remainder of the school year. I certainly learned a lot about myself and gained more invaluable experience that has now led me to CELA. I am blessed to be back in the classroom full time - I truly believe God made me to be a kindergarten teacher!
In our spare time, my husband, Matt, and I enjoy spending time with family, taking trips up north where we fish, kayak, bike, and simply enjoy God's creation. I also enjoy reading, shopping, and cheering on the Wisconsin sports teams.
